Themes + Badges

Rotating STEM Themes

Kids explore Engineering & Building, Robotics, Money & Math, Science Lab, and Creative Maker — collecting badges as they complete projects.

All themes run through our weekly labs. Kids can mix and match class times, while our spotlight theme drives the biggest projects and badge focus.

Engineering & Building
This season we’re focused on Engineering & Building. Kids design and test real-world structures — bridges, towers, marble runs, simple machines, and more — using LEGO, blocks, beams, wheels, and everyday materials.
We’re working toward the Builder, Engineer, and Inventor badges during this theme. Projects get more advanced over time so kids can move up from simple builds to more complex designs.
Your child can still try Robotics, Money & Math, Science, and Maker stations any week — we always keep a mix of cross-theme activities open.
Current Highlight

Engineering & Building

Structures, strength, and how things fit together. Season: Jan–Mar
  • Kids build bridges, towers, ramps, marble runs, and moving machines.
  • Learn about strength, balance, supports, and simple machines.
  • Great for kids who love LEGO, K’NEX, and “how does this work?” questions.
  • Badges: Builder, Engineer, Inventor.
Theme

Robotics & Coding

Robots, sensors, and simple programming. Season: Apr–Jun
  • Build and program kid-friendly robots with step-by-step challenges.
  • Learn sequencing, loops, sensors, and problem-solving with mini missions.
  • Perfect for kids who love tech, gadgets, and puzzles.
  • Earn robotics-focused versions of the Engineer and Inventor badges.
Theme

Money & Math Lab

Real-life money skills, logic, and number sense. Season: Summer (Jul–Aug)
  • Hands-on games for saving, spending, earning, and simple profit.
  • Math puzzles, logic games, and problem-solving tied to real scenarios.
  • Great for kids who like running “stores”, planning, or tracking things.
  • Earn progress toward money-focused badges and future entrepreneurship programs.
Theme

Science Lab & Experiments

Reactions, cause-and-effect, and curiosity. Season: Sept–Oct
  • Safe, guided experiments with reactions, states of matter, and forces.
  • Kids practice predicting, testing, observing, and recording results.
  • Perfect for kids who ask “why?” a hundred times a day.
  • Supports progress toward science-heavy versions of our badges.
Theme

Creative Maker & Design

Art, design, and building things their own way. Season: Nov–Dec
  • Blend art and STEM: design challenges, model-building, props, and prototypes.
  • Kids sketch, plan, build, and decorate projects with real creative freedom.
  • Great for kids who love crafts, drawing, and custom builds.
  • Leads toward the Inventor badge and advanced maker projects.
Specialty Theme

Kid Entrepreneurship (Fast-Track)

Mini-business ideas and simple product design. Fast-Track · Evenings
  • Offered in shorter Fast-Track programs for older kids.
  • Kids plan a mini product or service, practice pricing, profit, and marketing.
  • Ties in with Money & Math labs and real-world problem-solving.
  • Fast-Track programs give a separate specialty certificate.
How badges work:
  • Kids earn badges through weekly class progress, not just showing up. Instructors track when a child has mastered the skills inside a theme.
  • 3 badges in a theme = 1 STEM Certificate. Certificates are awarded at the end of a theme cycle or when a child finishes their third badge.
  • Fast-Track programs (like Entrepreneurship or Advanced Robotics) give extra specialty certificates on top of regular badges.

How themes fit into your schedule

  • Your child can attend any mix of weekly labs that fits your membership. All of them count toward badges.
  • During the current theme, we run extra projects and challenges tied to that topic so kids see clear progress.
  • When we rotate to the next theme (every 2–3 months), kids keep their badges and start working toward the next set.
