Program Spotlight

STEM Art & Creativity

Art + engineering projects that mix color, pattern, and structure. Kids design, build, and decorate hands-on creations while quietly learning real STEM ideas.

Ages 5–12 Art + Engineering Hands-On Projects Screen-Light

How this program works

STEM Art & Creativity runs as a rotating part of our weekly labs and special camp themes. It pairs closely with our Maker & Building Lab so kids can design something and then bring it to life in 3D.

  • Weekly labs: Built into our regular STEM schedule on selected days.
  • Included in memberships: Join through any 1 Day, 3 Day, or Unlimited plan.
  • Also offered: During certain School’s Out and holiday STEM camps.

What kids create

  • Pattern and symmetry art using tiles, blocks, and shapes
  • 3D sculptures and structures decorated with color and texture
  • “Blueprint” drawings that turn into real builds in the Maker Lab
  • Bridge and tower designs that mix function with style
  • Posters, signs, and graphics for their own “mini inventions”
  • Themed projects tied to our current Engineering & Building focus

Every project has a clear challenge: balance, height, strength, pattern, or another engineering rule that guides their creativity.

Skills they develop

  • Creativity and confidence in trying new ideas
  • Design thinking — plan, build, and improve
  • Understanding of patterns, symmetry, and simple geometry
  • Fine-motor skills and attention to detail
  • Communication — explaining their design choices
