PROGRAM CHANGE REQUESTS

Families may request a schedule or class change by emailing our office. Changes depend on availability and are processed within 24–48 hours.


PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Pecan Grove STEM Academy provides structured, hands-on STEM instruction for students ages 5–12. Our programs are screen-light and focus on real-world skills through building, experimenting, problem-solving, and creating.

Core instructional areas include:

  • Robotics & engineering

  • Science experiments & discovery

  • Math confidence, logic, & problem-solving

  • Money skills & entrepreneurship

  • STEM art, design, & creative structures

Enrollment options include:

  • Weekly 1-hour STEM Labs

  • 2-day STEM Lab Blocks (Early or Late)

  • Extended STEM Block (any two days, 3:00–6:30 PM)

  • Homeschool STEM Club (launching soon)

All programs emphasize hands-on, project-based learning.


HOURS OF INSTRUCTION

Weekly 1-hour STEM Labs:
4:30–5:30 PM (topics rotate weekly: robotics, science, math/logic, creative STEM, entrepreneurship)

Early STEM Lab Block:
Mondays & Wednesdays · 3:00–4:30 PM

Late STEM Lab Block:
Tuesdays & Thursdays · 4:30–6:00 PM

Extended STEM Block:
Select any two days Monday–Thursday · 3:00–6:30 PM
(Includes Early Block, STEM Lab, and Late Block)

We do not provide supervision before or after program hours.


ADMISSION & ENROLLMENT

Enrollment is open to students ages 5–12 who are ready for structured, hands-on learning.

Required forms include:

  • Registration form

  • Liability waiver

  • Non–child-care acknowledgment

  • Media release (optional)

  • Payment agreement

Enrollment is first-come, first-served.


ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL

  • Students may arrive no more than 5 minutes before their scheduled session.

  • Parents must walk students inside for check-in.

  • Students must be picked up promptly at the end of their session.

  • No supervision is available outside instructional hours.

  • Only approved adults may pick up. Photo ID may be required.


STUDENT EXPECTATIONS & BEHAVIOR

Students are expected to:

  • Follow instructor directions

  • Use tools and materials safely

  • Treat peers and staff respectfully

  • Participate fully

  • Stay in designated instructional areas

Behavior concerns may result in:

  1. Verbal redirection

  2. Parent communication

  3. Removal from the program if safety becomes a concern

We reserve the right to unenroll a student for continued safety or behavior issues.


MATERIALS & PERSONAL ITEMS

All materials are provided. Students should not bring:

  • Toys

  • Electronics

  • Personal craft/STEM kits

  • Cell phones (phones must stay in backpacks)

We are not responsible for lost or damaged personal items.


HEALTH & SAFETY

Although we are not a child-care center, we maintain high safety standards, including organized labs, trained staff, first aid on site, and documented incident reporting.

Students must stay home if they have:

  • Fever

  • Vomiting or diarrhea

  • Contagious illness

  • Symptoms preventing participation

We do not administer medication.


EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

In an emergency:

  • Parents will be contacted immediately

  • Emergency services will be called if needed

  • Students follow staff instructions for evacuation or shelter

Our facility meets all commercial fire and safety requirements.


PAYMENT POLICIES

  • Tuition must be paid before attending class.

  • There are no refunds for absences, missed classes, or early pick-ups.

  • A 30-day written notice is required to cancel monthly enrollment.


COMMUNICATION

We communicate by email, phone, and text.
Parents must keep contact information up to date.


11. NON–CHILD-CARE NOTICE

Pecan Grove STEM Academy is an instructional program, not a childcare facility, as defined by Texas Human Resources Code.

By enrolling, parents acknowledge that:

  • Staff provide instruction, not custodial care

  • Students must be dropped off and picked up on time

  • The program is exempt from child-care licensing

  • Instruction is provided only during scheduled program blocks


12. PARENT ACKNOWLEDGMENT

I have reviewed the Pecan Grove STEM Academy Parent & Student Handbook.
I understand this program is not childcare and provides instruction only.

Pecan Grove STEM Academy operates as a skills-based instructional program under Texas Administrative Code §745.129(2).
We provide direct STEM instruction, not childcare.
We are not a licensed child-care center and do not provide custodial supervision outside scheduled instructional times.
