Maker & Building Lab

Mixed-age engineering time using KEVA planks, blocks, and everyday materials. This lab strengthens spatial reasoning, creativity, and engineering skills — all through hands-on building.

Ages 5–12 Open-Ended Builds Engineering Skills No Screens

How this program works

Maker & Building Lab runs inside our weekly STEM schedule. It’s a creative, lower-structure environment where kids engineer, invent, and build using real materials — no kits or screens.

  • Weekly labs: Offered Mon–Thu and during Friday rotations on the Weekly STEM Schedule.
  • Membership-based: Included in all memberships (1 Day, 3 Days, Unlimited).
  • Projects change daily: New challenges, materials, and building prompts each week.

What kids do in Maker & Building Lab

  • KEVA plank towers, bridges, ramps, and giant structures.
  • Construction with wood blocks, magnetic tiles, gears, and simple machines.
  • Creative engineering using cups, cardboard, tape, and recyclable materials.
  • Mini building challenges like “build the tallest tower,” “design a ball run,” or “create a working structure.”
  • Open build time — where kids choose materials and create anything they imagine.

This is one of our most relaxed labs, perfect for kids who love to build and prefer hands-on learning over worksheets or screens.

Skills they build

  • Spatial reasoning and early engineering skills
  • Fine-motor strength and coordination
  • Creative problem-solving
  • Structural design and stability concepts
  • Collaboration and communication while building together
