How this program works
Engineering Design Challenges run as part of our rotating weekly STEM labs. Kids take on a new engineering mission each day using simple materials and real-world engineering steps.
- Weekly labs: Integrated Mon–Fri on the Weekly STEM Schedule.
- Included in all memberships: 1 Day, 3 Days, and Unlimited.
- Challenge themes rotate: Engineering, physics, structures, and motion.
What kids build
- Marble runs with jumps, turns, and stability rules
- Catapults, launchers, and trajectory challenges
- Bridges, towers, and weight-bearing structures
- Egg-drop protection designs
- Paper roller coasters and ball-run engineering
- Balloon-powered cars and moving systems
All challenges include building time, testing time, and the “redesign” round — the core of real engineering.
Skills they develop
- Critical thinking & scientific reasoning
- Measurement, stability, and structural principles
- Persistence through trial & error
- Team collaboration
- Innovation and creative problem-solving
